Emulex, a supplier of storage networking host bus adapters (HBAs), this week received certifications from LSI Logic Storage Systems and Brocade Communications Systems for its LightPulse LP9002L 2Gb/s Fibre Channel HBA. The LP9002l has already earned qualifications from Legato Systems and Hewlett-Packard, while Compaq has chosen its sister HBA, the LP952L, for use with its StorageWorks storage area network (SAN) solutions.
LSI Logic certified the LP9002L for use with its MetaStor E4600 2Gb/s storage system, which scales to 39 terabytes. Brocade qualified the LP9002L as interoperable with Brocade-based SAN infrastructure solutions.

According to Emulex, the LP9002L HBA operates at up to 2Gb/s Fibre Channel data rates, and offers auto speed negotiation, a function that enables the HBA to automatically sense the network's maximum speed, while maintaining full backwards compatibility with 1Gb/s Fibre Channel installations. It also offers driver compatibility across Emulex's entire family of LightPulse HBAs, including both the 2Gb/s LP9002L and the 1Gb/s LP8000.
