Companies establishing product-to-product compatiblity

Vixel Corporation today announced that they have partnered with IBM to establish end-to-end interoperability between two of their recently announced 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel Storage Area Network (SAN) products.

"The interoperability testing between Vixel and IBM allows both companies to develop high-performance 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel technology to meet the rapidly increasing storage networking demands of the industry. Vixel will continue to work closely with companies like IBM to further simplify and advance the deployment of 2 Gb/s Fibre Channel storage solutions," said Claude Lorenson, senior product manager for switches and solutions, Vixel Corporation.

The testing being conducted is designed to demonstrate compatibility between Vixel's new 9000 Series 2 Gb/s switches and IBM's 2 Gb/s ProFibre Storage Array DF4000J. The initial testing of Vixel's 9000 series switches with IBM's ProFibre DF4000J has shown positive results.
