Third joint blueprint details storage networkin and cache-optimized architecture

EMC Corporation, Cisco Systems, Inc. and Oracle Corporation this week announced the second major expansion of their ECOstructure (EMC/Cisco/Oracle Infrastructure) initiative with the unveiling of a new blueprint, entitled Accelerated.

The new Accelerated blueprint, the third released in the past 13 months, is available for downloading at the jointly managed Web site: http://www.eECOstructure.com. Accelerated incorporates storage networking and content caching technologies from all three companies. Utilizing a combination of static and dynamic content caching, storage area networking (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS), the blueprint details integrated best practices and optimized configurations to deliver fast, secure, reliable access for growing Web environments. The previous blueprints, Resilient and Recovery, are designed to maximize information availability and for business continuance.

The ECOstructure blueprints are based on EMC's Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems and software, EMC Connectrix Fibre Channel switches and EMC Celerra Network File Servers; the Cisco 7000 Series routers, Catalyst 6000 family switches, Cisco Content Services Switches, Cisco Content Engines, Cisco Secure PIX firewall and the Cisco Secure Intrusion Detection System; and the Oracle database and Oracle9i Application Server. The blueprints support thousands of third-party ISV applications and the Oracle E-Business Suite. ECOstructure is complementary to Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data).
