Auspex Systems, Inc. announced today that its new NS3000 series of Network Attached Storage (NAS) servers has been certified for interoperability with Legato Systems, Inc.'s NetWorker(R) 6.1.1 backup and recovery software.
"This certification continues a long-standing relationship we have had with Legato to ensure interoperability between the latest products from both companies," said Jeff D. Book, Auspex Director of Performance Engineering and Technology Partners. "It reflects our ongoing commitment to support all leading backup and restore software packages in order to provide our customers a variety of options for protecting enterprise data."
According to the companies, the certification allows IT administrators to take advantage of a series of Auspex and Legato features designed to optimize backup and restore operations. These include an Auspex architecture that allows multiple backup jobs to run on parallel processors simultaneously; Auspex file-level and block-level data transfer engines that stream data from disk to tape at high speeds across the LAN-free data path; and a Direct Access Restore function in Legato NetWorker that it said quickly positions tapes at the exact file location or locations.
