The initiative, which also includes a marketing agreement, will see EMC's Centera Content Addresses product enhanced with INSCI's Electronic Statement Presentment Plus Suite. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Internet document delivery and other consumer-centric applications "demand support for thousands of users with more immediate access than is available via traditional optical," said Harry F. Nelson, INSCI president and CEO. "Centera allows us to address this requirement while still supporting multiple terabytes of information at a reasonable cost."
The integrated system provides an architecture that supports consumer access to online statements or similar applications that require both mass storage volumes and immediate access speeds.
The system continuously monitors to detect, repair and report storage errors -- an important feature especially if the system is handling financial information. If an error is found, it automatically reconfigures itself and replicates stored content as necessary.
For INSCI, the EMC deal is the latest example of its renewed alliance strategy. The Westborough, Mass. company also recently forged ties with Xenos Corp., Sefas Innovations, and Imaging Solutions.
The deal with Sefas, a supplier of enterprise software for business process communications, runs for five years and will allow the company to market and resell its products throughout Europe.
Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC is also pursuing a cooperative strategy. Today, the company announced that it has expanded its relationship with Bell Microproducts. San Jose, Calif.-based Bell will distribute EMC's Clariion networked storage systems throughout the Americas. The deal follows a multi-year pact between the two companies in the United Kingdom.
