Quantum said this announcement follows extensive laboratory testing by both companies to assure VERITAS NetBackup customers are provided with a seamless upgrade path from DLTtape to Super DLTtape technology.
According to Quantum, the P-Series libraries are field upgradeable to Super DLTtape technology. Quantum's P7000, in its base configuration of 399 cartridge slots, scales from 19 TB of native, uncompressed data (DLT 8000) to 43.9 TB with Super DLTtape drives. The P4000, equipped with 171 cartridge slots, shows an increase from 6.84 to 18.8 TB, with performance from 21.6 GB/hr. (one DLT 8000 drive) to 39.6 GB/hr. (one Super DLTtape 220 drive) of native, uncompressed data.
VERITASs said its NetBackup DataCenter provides complete platform-independent data protection for the largest UNIX, Windows NT/2000, and NetWare enterprise environments.
